These small, 3000 lb 194 " long, car Uhauls are too light, and will the Caddy doors even clear the support rails that run around the 3 sides? Can the trailer fenders be removed for loading? Don't do it. My trailer is 25 feet long & that is for a 216" 1950. I never saw a Uhaul trailer long enough to accommodate a vintage Cadillac.
Oh boy!! A friend uses Uhaul trailers every year, but he tows a 50 Plymouth P-19, 3200lb, 187" long. If you were closer, I'd let you borrow my trailer. I've used them just fine towing smaller cars and they worked very well. I'm not saying they're bad, they just don't work well for long, heavy, older cars. I'd rather see someone drive their car to an event if it is operable than to risk their life using one of these trailers. The best way to correct whipping is to apply the trailer brake only with the electric brake controller, but that is not possible with a U-Haul trailer. If the trailer is whipping (correct term apparently), applying the tow vehicle brake will only worsen the condition. There is no provision for an electric brake on the U-Haul trailer. The trailer pushing against the truck trying to stops activates a hydraulic brake in the trailer.
One thing to note is that the U-Haul trailer is only equipped with a surge brake, meaning, that the only way to apply the trailer brakes is to apply the tow vehicle brake. The 2002 F350 dually hauls it effortlessly and I've already trailered the car close to 2000mi in the last year. I now have another 61 Fleetwood and a 20' equipment hauler two axle trailer with electric brakes and long ramps.
